Beanie Answered My Question
In no uncertain terms, I now know that there is someone else around who can “fisk” things. She has learned to stand on the arm of the couch, and lean way to her left, holding on to the entertainment center, reach out one little pointer finger, and find the play button, re-starting her favorite DVDs when they end. And she cries out in a deep, gutteral growl for all to hear….
“I FISK IT!”
And in related childish news, I lost my mind at a play group today and we parents did a little experiement.
After listening to our kids follow each other in a circle for five minutes making an unremitting unharmonious sound “uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” (which sounded somewhat like a test of the emergency broadcast system,) I led the adults in our own version of the same thing, just to see what the kids would do.
I thought they’d come running to our side and join in the cool kids’ circle. No ma’am. They continued what they were doing with some slightly amused and indulgent smiles. They were just proud of us for catching on to where the real fun was to be had.
Amazing.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
