Help!!!

Filed under: Odds and Ends - onewomansworld @ 5:16 pm

What to get for the husband? It’s SO not fair that his birthday falls the week of Christmas and I have to think of enough to fill both holidays all at once. I’m throwing out the question to the internet, hoping for help. Can you help me?! Christmas/birthday gift ideas for hubby that will be under $50.00 I only have $50.00 left, but what to get him in that range has me stumped. In addition, I may take back one of his other gifts. I’m still debating, so what do you suggest? Please people, I need some inspiration.

  1. Oh man, that’s a hard one. What about some cute framed pictures of you and the Bean? I am having the same trouble thinking of something for my husband. Let me know if you have any great ideas!

  2. My hubby always wanted gift cards from his fav stores, like Home Depot or Sharper Image. That’s kind of the easy way out but guys are just so hard to shop for, why not let them shop for themselves?

  3. Gift cards are a good idea, I agree, but what about a bunch of smaller things: a magazine he may not have checked out, a video he’s wanted, new sports equipment, an outdoorsy gadget like a leatherman or camping gear?

  6. My husband always claims to want his children to get along and respect their mother. But that’s hard to wrap. In the past, I’ve gotten him a subscription to Sports Illustrated, a series of lessons at the golf course starting in the spring, books (that he usually finishes that day — fast reader), stuff like that. This year I’ve gotten him a new jacket from Target, an electronic sudoku, a book, and a plug-in video game of golf. Good luck! Men are so hard to shop for. New white shirts for Sunday are always a plus, too :)

  7. Get him a night of camping with you. Get someone to watch Bean for the night and part of the next day, and get the two of you up in the snow somewhere and spend the night talking about your favorite memories and your hopes for the future. And cuddling.

  9. Random ideas:

    USB Cables

Blank CDs (by a reputible company - mid priced ones are usually good, the cheapest are always lousy)

flatbed scanner (though finding a good one for $50 last minute (yes, this is last minute for electronics) is tough)

DVD burner (ditto to the above comment, I don’t know that there even are any under $50 at this point)

Newer, spiffier cell phone (w/ camera! the unintitiated don’t understand how great even a 1.0 megapixel built-in camera is)

Bluetooth (a type of wireless device) headphones

Mp3 player (not necessarily an iPod)

Gift certificate to purchase Mp3s or CDs with

    Soundtrack to his favorite movie

Something involving fire (those lighter wands are pretty nifty and you can get ‘em for $1) (or if he’s inclined towards cooking a creme brulee set would be nifty)

Tickle Me Elmo (or a robosapien 1.0 or 2.0) and a soldering gun

Hm. Yeah. I’m running out of ideas.

    Good luck!

  13. I just bought my husband a signed and framed picture of his favorite professional basketball star on eBay. It was only $30 and I’m pretty sure he’ll go nuts over it. There is TONS of signed stuff on eBay (yeah, maybe they aren’t ALL authentic) so you could probably find something that would get him excited. Good luck!

  14. Hello! I was actually just working on tomorrow’s blog in which I’m going to post a gift idea that might work for your husband… a flip book from Flipclips.com. They take any digital video clip and turn it into a litlte paper flip book he can carry around with him (his favorite sports moment, his kids, etc.) BTW, I found your blog at Rocks In My Dryer! 16. Well, I’m only now catching up on blogs (sorry, Dear), so I imagine it’s too late for me to suggest anything but this: half birthdays are for exactly this occasion. Perhaps he should employ one. My b-day’s in June, and I LOVE it. He’s welcome to join my birthday month any time. :-)

  17. My husband’s birthday is December 24th so I know how you feel. I just bought his birthday present today. It is a gift certifcate for $50 to a restaurant. It seems silly, since I don’t work and it is “his” money. But, I am including some “coupons” for our date night. So the gift certificate is just the start of a hopefully wonderfully romantic time together-just the two of us.
